Loving the home you live in couldn’t be more important, and after spending so much time in our homes these last few years I think we all can agree.
I am thrilled to watch as old home decor trends fade away and new ones begin to surface. It keeps life exciting and makes decorating our personal spaces interesting. I have always welcomed change in my own home and love creating change for my client’s homes… so lets see what’s new in home decor trends in 2023.
ATMOSPHERIC COLORS
It is the year to welcome the colors of nature into our homes. Think soft moss greens, deep violet orchard fruit, and warm sunset hues. This style can include earthy rustic designs with terracotta accents and earthy pottery. You can add a burnt orange chair or pillow to your living space. Mix stone and soft pluch fabrics together. Definitely add in greenery and if your space is lacking natural light consider using wooden based lamps.
REBIRTH OF ART DECO
A throw back to the 1920’s, art deco and the eptiome of chic home decor is back. If you want to elevate your home decor to a more opulent, glamorous, and sleek aesthetic than give this style a try. This gorgeous great gatsby look can be created by using geometric patterns in rugs on the floors and in art prints on your walls. Rich velvet or shiny fabrics can be used on throw pillows to create this look and smaller marble and metal decor pieces can be used as accents. Invest in a high shine coffee table or end tables. Black, white, silver and gold hues scream Art Deco, but in 2023 this style includes colors like rose pink, deep blue, and emerald green.
CHIC AND MODERN WOOD PANELED WALLS
The wood paneling of the past is not the wood paneling of 2023. When I think of wood paneling I think of wide vertical plank with faux wood grains that are dark and dated. Todays wood paneled walls are modern, and are made with real woods such as bamboo and unique reclaimed woods. Wood accent walls can have a geometric design or even incorporate living greenery.
AT HOME WELLNESS SPACES
This may be my most favorite home decor trend of 2023. I’m already trying to figure out how I can incorporate a home wellness space in my own home. Will it be a meditation nook, a yoga room, and indoor water feature or a home office mini garden … or maybe all of it. The idea of doing this already makes me feel relaxed. What a wonderful way to incorporate some Zen and chill into your daily schedule and your homes decor.
WALLPAPER DESIGNS
Wallpaper definitely has had it’s place in decor over the years. It’s been loved and hated in a polarizing way. For example, I have fallen in love with wallpaper in very specific spaces and then seen some walls that I wished I could tear it off the walls. Hmmm… With that said wall paper designs are big, bold, and back. Envision expansive floral patterns in bright colors. Wall paper with thick textures and vivid patterns are here in 2023.
THE “COASTAL GRANDCHILD”
Let me introduce you to the newest (hot off the press) 2023 home decor trend called “Coastal Grandchild.” This home decor style is a beautiful combination of Coastal Aesthetics plus Vintage Decor. Blended together these two styles give you a young and modern look that is very Serena and Lily or Lulu and Georgia. Pair simple family herilooms, library florals, and teracotta palettes to create a fresh and serene space that just makes you feel happy being at home.
