This dreamy bedroom makeover before and after project turned a dark room into a gorgeous, chic space for a teen girl. The family had recently moved into this historic home, and needed some decor help with their teen daughter’s bedroom space.
My teen client knew she wanted the accent colors pink and gold. She also really wanted a comfy and inviting space where she could hang out with her friends when they came over.
This dreamy bedroom makeover before and after started with wall-to-wall paint.
Although the original moody navy paint could be perfect in a different space, this bedroom space needed to be brightened up and given a burst of energy with a warm white.

This dreamy bedroom makeover before and after also needed some new furniture pieces.
We salvaged the beautiful antique cabinet that was too large for this space and moved it to a different bedroom. (Stay tuned for that upcoming blog post!) We also kept the small desk to use as a vanity. A new bed from Pottery Barn Teen, a dresser from Wayfair and a tall standing wall mirror were all brought together to create a space that any teen girl would love.

To soften up this dreamy bedroom makeover before and after, a soft duvet cover was added, sheer long flowy curtains were used to frame the windows, and a white glam shag rug was added for lush comfort.
This is a beautiful historic home, so the windows are not balanced and are different sizes. Using long flowy white sheers over the different shaped windows gives a more balanced look on the wall. The white duvet can be removed and washed if needed. There was already a shag glam stool in the space that we wanted to make use of, so I complimented it with a white shag glam rug.

This dreamy bedroom makeover before and after also needed an accent color, so I added aged brass, plus my teen client had specifically requested “pink and gold”.
The aged brass bedside lamp, geometric wall mirror, and new modern chandelier give the space a modern chic show stopping look. I also used small table decor and wall decor with gold detail as accents around the bedroom.
