J&J BATHROOM REVEAL

I’m not going to lie … I wasn’t sold on the idea having a Jack and Jill bathroom in our new home. I couldn’t quite put my finger on what I didn’t love about them. Maybe it was that they scream 1990’s and seem to be so predictable in design and layout. BUT… after sitting down with our amazing drafts-woman and designing our custom home, I quickly realized we needed to get the most bang for our buck. Since you are paying per square foot, you start with your set square footage and work backwards with what spaces you need and what spaces you could live without. Although my girls wanted to have their own individual bathrooms, it wasn’t going to work with our square footage.

…So I wrapped my mind around the idea of the J&J bathroom and played around with how I could modernize the layout.

So here it is…. our modernized J&J bathroom!
It fits PERFECTLY in between my daughters bedrooms and they each have their very own vanity area with a sink. They share the space with the shower/ tub and the toilet. It really works out great since they were both hoping to have their very own personal vanity space.

Cabinets

The Kemper cabinets are pre-painted in white. The tall cabinet is really great for towels and ALL of the extra space my daughters need for all of their ULTA products. 🙂

Faucets / Plumbing

Both vanity areas mimick each other exactly. The faucets are both the Delta Widespread Faucet which are in Champagne Bronze.

The shower head is Delta In2ition Dual Hand Held Shower Head with Hose and has Magnetic Docking, it is also in the Champagne Bronze.

I’m really liking the Champagne Bronze color of these plumbing fixtures. My husband called it “gold” at first and said he was pretty sure gold went out of style years ago. He was partly right. Polished brass and high shine golds are outdated, however, the buffered champagne colored bronzes and aged brass are very on trend.

Lighting

These double Wall Sconce Lights frame the mirror. The sconces are in an aged gold and have a dainty white linen shade. They were the perfect height and style for this extra long mirror.

The chandelier in the shower area is so beautiful in person! I ordered this chandelier in Brass but when it came in, it was Polished Nickel. I still had our electrician install it, so we could pass inspection and get occupancy. After seeing it installed, I fell in love with it! The polished Nickel looked so good with the shower tile and all of the brass accents and mixing metals worked here. It was a keeper! I’m obsessed with this Beautiful Chandelier!

Mirrors

I looked everywhere for two extra tall framed aged brass mirrors and had no luck. I even asked local mirror and glass companies to make them… it was the aged brass frame that they couldn’t find. So I ended up getting these Extra Tall Mirrors in the most suprising place and they were exactly what I was hoping for.

I had a mirror company install them and was happy to hear that the mirrors were sturdy, strong, and durable. They look amazing and gave the space exact look I wanted.

Floor Tile

The floor tile is called Silver Melody and is laid in an offset pattern. This tile has a great texture to it, so is great for a kids bathrooms or for high traffic areas. It literaly looks like a linen tile floor and is unique.

Shower Tile

This gorgeous shower tile is a Carrara in 12×24. It is a creamy white with gray and silver veining. It looks so glamorous! My daughters actually talked me into getting them this tile. I had a shimmery baby blue mermaid scale tile in mind. It was so sweet! They said, “No Mom, that’s too babyish!” 🙂

And… they weren’t wrong! They would have outgrew the cute mermaid look in a few years.

Design Tip: Keep ALL of your tile neutral and classic so it doesn’t date your home and so you don’t have to replace it after a few years.

Hardware

This Modern Cabinet Hardware is so sharp! It looks so good with all of the aged brass accents. I also like the way it feels and is a good solid quality. You will not be dissapointed with this gorgeous
Modern Cabinet Hardware!
