DINING ROOM REVEAL

The Dining Room Table (AKA) …The Center of Everything!
It’s where my family sits for meals together, holidays are celebrated, and where homework is done.

Welcome to our table!

When designing our home, I didn’t want two dining rooms (formal and informal). I feel like formal dining rooms are very traditional and not used often enough to take up square footage.
I wanted one casual dining room centered between our kitchen and the living room.

The Table

I looked far and wide and hours and hours for a light wood table that was specifically 8 feet long. I wanted it to fit 8 chairs comfortably. I was so nervous buying this table on line without seeing it in “real life”. I kept going back to it and when I finally pulled the trigger and bought it I was so relieved to have made a big decision. I could finally close the chapter of The Dining Room Table Search.

So the conclusion to that chapter 😉 is that this dining room table has worked out very nicely for the space. The color of the Oak wood is perfect, it is extremely durable, easy to clean, the design is clean lined and it is a transitional piece that could honestly go with any decor. You can see the wood grain and some small wood knots, but it is all so tastefully done. I purchased it on-line at Burke Decor.

Chairs

What goes perfectly with this stunning light oak dining table? These fabulous black chairs do!
I love the contrast of the black with the light wood.
It’s all just so crisp sitting in the middle of this white space.

These chairs have a caned backing which brings in another natural element. I purchased these chairs at Crate and Barrel but have seen them popping up at other stores too.

DECOR TIP: Caning is typically not very durable, so when buying any piece of furniture with caning make sure it’s not in a place that will get a lot of wear or weight. For example, chairs or stools that have caning where you sit are not the best idea. Also headboards with caning can wear over time.
On this chair the caning should be fine because it is on the back rest.

These eye catching chairs have detachable off-white cushions that velcro to the base so they don’t slip.
They clean up super easy and make the chair comfy.

THE LIGHT

This Bistro light is very on trend right now. There are a handful of companies that make lights that look similar. There is so many things about this light that I love. The colors – black, the brushed brass, and the large bright milk glass white look so good together. These colors are also themed throughout my entire home and since this light is literally in the very center of my home – it makes sense to use it in this space. It’s bold, unique, and mid-century modern. This light kinda just makes me happy! I purchased this Bistro Chandelier at Circa lighting.

This dining room is truly one of my favorite rooms in our home.

It’s casual, beautiful, and inviting all at the same time! I have a feeling this table and these chairs will be with my family for many years to come.
